Croughnuts at Dolcelatte Cafe & Gourmet Bakeshop

Other people said they were underwhelmed, it was very meh & that it was just another overpriced pastry. But I had to try it for myself to find out.

A delicate puff pastry of a croissant shaped into a round doughnut, which is then deep-fried, filled with cream, and coated with a light glaze.

Luckily we walk-in by 3:30pm, but the catch is, all walk-in customers have an assorted flavors which means that you will not allowed to choose flavors.

Once I got my grubby little hands on them, I excitedly opened the box. I take a bite of each Croughnuts, holding one in each hand.

Choco Caramel

Lemon Meringue

They are made fresh everyday and they come in eleven (11) flavors.

  • It was crunchy outside but soft and chewy in the inside.
  • The glaze on top and the cream inside really made this very delectable.
  • Not that buttery and sweet.
  • Flavors of each topping and the filling blend well.
Be reminded to consume it, its not refrigerated or toasted. It's also a great pairing for coffee.

Croughnuts at Le Coeur de France

As its name suggests, the croughnut truly is a cross between a croissant and a donut, at least texturally. It's simultaneously flaky and chewy, though not quite as flaky as a croissant nor as chewy as a doughnut.

They only have three (3) variants so I didn't have a hard time choosing which flavors to get.

They are much smaller than Wildflour Bakery + Cafe and Anybody Coffee. But the price is a way at a premium.

Double Belgian Chocolate
Baked croughnut filled with luscious Bavarian cream and topped with Belgian Chocolate ganache an chocolate chips sprinkled on top.

Taste: It got solid gooey, just partly melted chocolate chips on top. Chocolate lovers will likely dig this, especially those who appreciate dark, bittersweet chocolate.

Mixed Berries
Baked croughnuts filled with whipped cream cheese and topped with mixed berry glaze.

Taste: My favorite of the bunch. The combination of pastry cream and raspberry glaze reminded me of heavenly raspberry cheese croissants. They're basically croissants filled with raspberry jam and pastry cream.

Parmesan Cheese
Filled with whipped cream cheese and topped with Parmesan cheese.

Taste: It was entirely different experience eating it. It made it seem lighter and flakier, more like a croissant and less like a doughnut. The sharp saltiness from the Parmesan was terrific with the sweetness of the pastry cream as well.

Kronuts at Chatime Pioneer

It's time for Chatime! I must say, tea is definitely a great thirst quencher! They will start to sell their very own version of Kronuts every 12:30pm, so I'm very certain that my very first bite of their Kronuts will happen. Exactly 12:30pm, I arrived at Pioneer Center, Shaw Boulevard to try this mini pastries of Chatime.

While waiting for my turn to get the Kronuts, I ordered  my favorite:

Mango Green Tea
less 70% sugar level, no sinkers
Php 80.00
It was so refreshing for a gloomy afternoon

It taste like donut that are deep-friend dough, sprinkled with white sugar and bavarian-like feeling inside.

Dark Chocolate and Vanilla Combination Kronuts;  Vanilla Kronuts
Php 55 each
Our first thought was that, the place had no seats or place to hang out and it was pretty small, but then they actually had a dining area on the second floor. A lot of customers come by just to enjoy a cup of their delicious drinks.

I surely be back again soon. Thanks Chatime!
